About the Founder
Koppula Vasundhara, the founder of Weave Medias, embodies resilience and determination. Diagnosed with polio at the age of two due to an expired vaccine, Koppula faced life-altering challenges from an early age. Despite losing her ability to walk, she thrived in an environment filled with love and support, thanks to her mother, who dedicated herself to Koppula’s education and well-being, and her younger brother, who selflessly aided her in navigating daily obstacles.
Growing up, Koppula experienced firsthand the limitations imposed by societal norms and inaccessible infrastructure. While her school life was enriched by the encouragement of her teachers and peers, she often endured significant hardships, such as inadequate facilities that forced her to go for long hours without food or water. These experiences shaped her resolve to advocate for change and inclusion.
A turning point in her life came in 2008 when she had the privilege of meeting Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. This encounter sparked her passion for journalism and advocacy, leading her to pursue courses in journalism. Her journey through the media industry revealed both opportunities and challenges. Despite working diligently in various roles, including as a content writer and later at a Telugu news channel, Koppula often felt undervalued and faced barriers due to her disability.
In 2014, driven by her vision to create a more inclusive society, Koppula founded Weave Medias. Her mission was clear: to organize events that not only celebrate diversity but also empower individuals with disabilities by providing them with opportunities in various sectors, including cricket leagues and beauty pageants. Through Weave Medias, she has successfully created platforms for disabled individuals to shine and break stereotypes in the advertising and modeling industries.
Koppula’s journey has not been without its challenges. She has encountered significant financial hurdles and skepticism from potential investors and clients. Yet, her unwavering commitment to her mission has propelled her forward. Recognizing the need for more support, she is now focused on establishing an incubation center that aims to equip disabled individuals with the skills and resources needed to become entrepreneurs. This initiative reflects her belief in the power of self-empowerment and the importance of creating pathways for disabled individuals to take control of their own lives and careers.
